Warm Dragon

Chapter 14: Will-O-Wisp Family

After a very full lunch, everyone went to the living room to digest and chat.

Russell simply talked about his feelings about living in the fiefdom. He only lived there for one day, so he didn't have many new feelings.

Most of the time, it was still old lady Ingrid and Meryl who were chatting.

Russell always felt that there was a burst of gunpowder between the mother-in-law and the daughter-in-law, but both of them were more restrained and did not confront each other head-on.

Baron Roman seemed to know nothing about this.

However, Russell felt that the baron might know, but just pretended not to know. After all, this kind of eternal problem, before it causes a destructive situation, there is no need to be demanding and embarrass yourself. Life is still based on happiness.

"You can't fall behind in fighting lessons. You have an average talent. If you don't practice hard, your achievements will be limited."

"I know, father."

"I asked Carter to prepare a batch of magic potions for you. Take it back and take one every day. Don't refuse. This is also what your grandmother meant." The baron said.

Old Lady Ingrid turned around and said, "Yes, the family is not short of money, so of course the magic potion should be left for the little will-o'-the-wisp."

"Of course, I won't refuse." Russell smiled.

He didn't covet the baron's wealth, after all, he was the second son, but since the baron was willing to give it, he was embarrassed to refuse.

"The little will-o'-the-wisp has grown up." Old Lady Ingrid laughed, "He used to be a little twisted, but now he is loved by people."

Meryl followed with a smile and said, "Mother, Russell has grown up and is no longer the little will-o'-the-wisp in your mouth."

"Why not the little will-o'-the-wisp? In my heart, Russell and his brothers are all little will-o'-the-wisp."

"After all, the little will-o'-the-wisp is a nickname given by outsiders."

"We are the will-o'-the-wisp family. What if others call us a joke? It won't cost a penny. If anyone is not convinced, let Lord Ross go down and release a handful of dragon breath, and I guarantee that they will be burned clean, leaving only ashes." Old Lady Ingrid teased.

Meryl narrowed her eyes and said, "Other families may not have no dragons."

The Grand Duchy of Shadow Flame has two earls and five barons, and each family has a wyvern, or even more than one.

This magical creature is a standard for great nobles.

Without a wyvern, it is not enough to protect the safety of the territory.

"We are not afraid of dragons. If anyone scolds our Will-O-Wisp family, we will scold them back. Who doesn't have a nickname? Your Yujiuhua family also has a nickname of little bird, right?" Old Lady Ingrid said, unwilling to be outdone.

Yujiuhua is a blue flower that looks like a bird, so the Yujiuhua family is also called the Bluebird Family, and sometimes they are jokingly called the little bird.

Similarly.

The fluorescent mushroom is a mushroom that can emit green fluorescence at night. It likes to grow on tree trunks and looks like a floating will-o-wisp from a distance.

So the fluorescent mushroom family is also called the will-o-wisp family, and the descendants of the family naturally have the nickname of little will-o-wisp.

Of course, there are even more unpleasant nicknames such as Green Ghost and Green Ant.

The mother-in-law and daughter-in-law teased and argued, and were hostile to each other in jokes, but this did not affect Baron Roman and Russell at all.

"Oh, by the way." Russell said, "Speaking of magic potions, I almost forgot that I brought a small gift for my grandmother, mother and Lola."

He called the butler Ram and brought a small bag.

Russell took out three pearls from the bag, all of which were just taken out of the big river clams this morning. The white pearls shone with a warm luster. If you feel carefully, you can feel that the faint magic is flowing in them.

The egg-sized pearl was given to the grandmother, the second-largest one was given to the mother, and the third-largest one was given to Lola.

"Wow, brother, what is this?" Lola saw the pearl for the first time.

"Pearls are gems bred in shells."

"They are really rare. Grandmother hasn't given you a gift yet, but she received your gift instead." Old Lady Ingrid couldn't resist the beautiful pearls and couldn't let them go. "Where did you find them, little will-o'-the-wisp?"

Baron Roman was also curious: "Pearls are really hard to find."

"I picked them up from the river this morning." Russell said roughly. He wanted to eat river food, but ended up catching pearls. "I didn't expect a river clam to be unexpectedly large, and it actually bred five pearls of different sizes."

There were still two small ones left in the bag.

"Brother, you are so lucky!" Lola said enviously.

Old Lady Ingrid smiled and said: "Our will-o'-the-wisp family has always been lucky. Back then, the great-grandfather of the little will-o'-the-wisp was able to pick up Lord Ross. Now it's the turn of the little will-o'-the-wisp to pick up pearls. It can be seen that the dragon of the Grand Duke's family has been watching us and blessing us."

Baron Roman was speechless: "Look at what you said."

A two-legged flying dragon and a few pearls, the two are completely incomparable.

After sending out the pearl gift and receiving a batch of magic potions, Russell felt that it was almost time and was ready to leave.

Meryl asked first: "Russell, are you staying in the castle tonight?"

"Uh, no, mother."

"Well, okay."

After only one night apart, Meryl missed her son.

Baron Roman rubbed his wife's shoulders and comforted her: "It's not far away, right under your nose, what are you worried about... Russell, go back, manage the fiefdom well, and don't fall behind in fighting spirit training."

"Okay, father."

"Why are you leaving so soon?" Old Lady Ingrid muttered, "The little will-o'-the-wisp have grown up one by one."

"Grandma, I will come to see you often." Russell said with a smile.

Lola also came over and said, "Russell, when will you take me to the Black-waisted Snake Manor to play?"

"Next time, I will come to pick you up when I have time... Grandma, father and mother, no need to see me off, I'm leaving."

Waving his hand, Russell left the Fluorescent Castle in a chic manner.

After leaving the stone archway outside the castle, he couldn't help but breathe a long sigh of relief. The Fluorescent Castle always made him feel restrained.

Fortunately, Mr. Ross didn't know where he was strolling. He was not in the castle today and would not glance at him gloomily, otherwise he would be more restrained.

The sun went west and the horses went south.

After running along the charcoal slag avenue for two hours, Russell returned to his loyal fiefdom, the Black-waisted Snake Manor.

"Master, welcome home." Butler Morris, with his male and female servants, greeted his return at the gate.

Although there are few servants, there must be rules.

"Where are Mr. Charles and Mr. Eric?"

"You two have gone to inspect the manor."

"Well, Morris, I won't go back to the villa." Russell turned his horse around and took four knights to the road again, following the path inside the manor, and began his first inspection of his territory.

Not far from the villa of the manor is Doumaitun.

Half of the serfs in Doumaitun grow lentils, and half grow wheat. There is also a small market in the center of Doumaitun. Most of the serfs in the entire Black-waisted Snake Manor live near this small market in the manor, close to each other.

There are no criss-crossing streets, only a charcoal slag path running from northwest to southeast, and the serfs' houses are distributed along both sides of the path.

Most of them are wooden houses, dotted with a few two-story buildings built of stones.

The arrival of a group of five riders quickly alarmed the serfs in the small market, and then the serf steward who had paid a visit to Russell yesterday took the lead and knelt on the ground.

"Welcome, sir!"

"The sir is here to inspect the manor!"

"Praise the sir!"

The serfs knelt on the ground, the scene was chaotic, but they seemed to have a tacit understanding and made way for the charcoal slag path so as not to hinder Russell and his party from riding through.
